With the increasing widows/widowers in our communities which can be very traumatic, with the state of their livelihood, provision of support in terms of charity, welfare and economic support will go a long way in alleviating the difficulties that accompany such occurrences.
Believing in bringing succour to the needy, the Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide held a social intervention program for the widows/widowers and the Aged on Friday, 4th of January, 2019 at the Council Secretariat.
These categories of people numbering one hundred and fifty (150) were given ten thousand naira (#10,000) each as a social support benefit. This is in continuation of the intervention program held on 20th of December, 2018 where over three hundred (300) residents were given ten thousand naira (#10,000) each also.
In the same vein, ten million naira as financial assistance for various requests was given to residents who have earlier requested for such. Issues ranging from health problem, accommodation, educational and business support from residents were taken care of and this monetary assistance ranging from #100,000, #50,000 and #30,000 was given out to cater for all these needs.
The Chairman also used the occasion to organise mini medical check up for the residents with the belief that we should begin the year, knowing our health status for preventive ways of living.
Present at the event were APC leaders including, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Chief David Adenekan, Dr. Charles Esan, Alhaji A.G.O Sadiq, Hon Alawiye king amongst others.
Also present were members of the legislative Arms led by the Leader, Hon Barakaq Akande, Executive Arm including the Vice Chairman, Hon Sulaimon Yusuf and Management led by the Council Manager, Mr Akeem Adesanya.
